Because She Won't Believe Me....
I am one of those people who won't thaw their frozen food on the counter. Some people do (*cough* Amy *cough*) and are just fine with it. In fact, some people (*cough* Amy *cough*) will poke fun at you and say things like, "I'll even make you dinner and I won't thaw the chicken on the counter."
*eyeroll*
I can't help it. I prefer to thaw my food in the fridge. But when the Big Guy forgets to bring up a pound of ground turkey from the freezer, and you plan to cook it in less than 24 hours....you sometimes have to take drastic steps.
It is true.
I set it on the counter to get a head start at defrosting.
I'm posting proof because Amy won't believe me if I told her otherwise.
So there.
Proof that I did indeed thaw my ground turkey on the counter
(kinda....I put it in the fridge after about an hour or so).

You could just do like I do & buy take out... no thawing required :)
Is it because you're worried it will spoil in that amount of time? Do you microwave thaw ever? I must know.
Jason: it's a "THEY say to thaw it in the fridge or you'll get some crazy lower GI disease" type thing.
That and I once saw a friend (not Amy) toss a Zip lock bag with frozen chicken, on the counter, leave for work, come home 9 hours later, cook it and eat it. No longer cold or anything. ICK
(and yes, I have done micro-thawing, but rarely.)
Ewwww! I'm just kidding. I don't know the first thing about cooking. I thought that turkey was born already cooked on my plate.
Your Friend, m.
Pigs are flying!
And you lived to tell about it!
I haven't died once - ever.
I never thaw anything in advance 'cause I just can't plan that far in advance. I just immerse it in a sink full of really hot water for about twenty minutes and voila! I can usually make that happen while I take off my work clothes, start laundry and inspect the house for any damage the dog and cat have created while we were gone.
