With that said....
Here are some of our photos from Scotland!
Background:
When we planned this trip, the Big Guy said, "if we're going to the UK, then I want to go to Scotland." At first I thought, "Great....how do we fit THIS in?" But we decided to do it first rather than at the end. On one hand I'm glad we did. On another, I wish we would have had it at the end (wait until our London review...).
Where we stayed:
Kingsway Guest House. A charming B&B about 2 miles off the Royal Mile.
Highlights:
Holyrood House (The Queen's residence!)
Tour of the Highlands
Seeing my friend Emma
The Big Guy enjoying a beer from one of his favorite breweries
Would we go back?
YES!!
The following pics are from Holyrood House, the Queen's Official Residence. Photos were not allowed inside, so most of these are scanned postcards that I got at the gift shop (which, if you think about it, is a great marketing tool.....). In reality that's OK, because it means I got crisp photos without a random tourist in the background.
Outside of Holyrood House
Staircase of Holyrood House
Dining room--the Queen will sit in the middle
Remains of the Holyrood Abbey
Garden of Holyrood House
Stonework on the outside of Holyrood House
(I joked with my cousin, who LOVES unicorns
that the Queen loves them so much, she had
them on her castle. ha!)
Statue outside of Holyrood House
The following pics are from our trip to the Highlands. It was a 12 hour bus trip and worth every penny. It may have been a bit chilly (or as they say in Scotland, "Fresh"), but worth the trip.
Where they filmed the scenes in Harry Potter that included Hagrid's Hut!
The Big Guy pointing at Loch Ness at the Loch Ness Monster
(OK. Not really....)
Bryan, our tour guide, who was awesome!
(Yes! In a Kilt!)
(No. I didn't peek)
Our B&B is the 3rd one down.
I loved "B&B Row"
The door knob is just for show!
The view from our B&B window.
The location was great...quiet area, safe, all in all very charming!
Up next....London.
My back hurts just thinking about it.
(there's your hint....)
