Cheap Eyeglasses....SERIOUSLY!!

Would I joke about this? Nope. Not one bit.

I've worn glasses since the 3rd grade. And since the 3rd grade, for me, was in 1980, that's a lot of eyeglasses that have been broken on the monkey bars, gym class, slipping on the ice, etc.

As an adult in her mid-30's, glasses are hip, but haven't gotten any cheaper.

OK. Like I'd know how much my parents spent on eyeglasses in 1984.

But I don't know about you, but paying $300 or more for eyeglasses, lenses, coating, anti-glare and so on is crazy. I mean, we're talking car-payment on my face.

So, a while back a co-worker sent me a link to a blog that has eyeglass sites listed in the left hand column.

Please re-read the above sentence again, because if you don't, you'll go to the site and say, "Where are the cheap glasses that the lady from Minnesota was talking about."

(I'm just sayin'....)

Here's the best part. When I mean cheap, I mean CHEAP.

Now, let me say that cheap does not mean poor quality. My glasses that I ordered recently are of good quality and are perfect. No issues. None. Zero. Nada.

My new glasses, that are oh-so-trendy, that would have cost me $280 at Pearle Vision?

$20

I'm not kidding.

And that included shipping.

Oh, and did I mention I also got sunglasses? Yep. How much?

$25

And that too, included shipping.

So, now that you're eyes are wide, saying "SHUT UP!" and looking for the link...here it is. Click here for the super cheap eyeglass blog. Remember what I said above about where to find the eyeglass links....

That's what works for me. Now get your mouse clicking over to Rocks in My Dryer for more fun works for me posts.

**Edited to add: I want to thank Holly for her comment. She brought up a point that I forgot to add--so thank you, Holly! She stated that she loves the idea, but is cautious because she can't try on the glasses. I can't agree with her more. Here's what I did. I went in for my yearly eye exam, and after I was finished, I decided to try on some glasses. No offense to the eye clinic staff, but I tell them the truth. I'm not purchasing glasses, but I'm simply trying on frames today, and that I'm making note of the frames and style that I like for a future purchase. I also tell them that I'm comfortable looking at frames on my own (I don't need Susie Creamcheese Staffmember following me around the store while I try on frames telling me, "Oh, those look great on you...") Make note of the frames you like (brand name, color, shape, etc) and then come back and look online. While you may not find the exact frames you found at the clinic, you will find ones that are similar. Also, if you didn't get a copy of your prescription at the end of your exam, be sure to ask for it. In Minnesota it is against the law for an eye doctor to withhold that information.

Awesome for you. I am thankful that so far I have not had to deal with vision expenses. As for the pumpkin crisp, I am SO glad you tried and loved it. Very cool!!!!!

Heck yeah. That is what I am talking about. I have had glasses since 1st grade in 1986. Yeah. Bummer. I hate dropping $200-300 on glasses that will end up in multiple pieces b/c the kiddos wanted to know if they would break if they put them in the toilet. yeah. long story. Anywho.... thanks for the great link!!

I love your two cents :) I have no idea who LG is but WOW someone needs to take a chill pill and stop being so mean and sarcastic. I was gonna delete them but then I figured my blog is a place where you can say what you want. I get that not everyone is going to love what I do but I have to say i was a bit shocked. I think LG just wanted to pick a fight...I think its kinda funny. Who picks a fight with a cancer survivor blogging about her cancer????

Thanks for having my back :)

Thanks for the info! I'm still only using reading glasses (and I buy them for $1.50 at job lots lol) but my days are numbered and I'll be needing them full time soon. Now I know where to go for the deals!

Shut up! Where was this last week when we spent $250 on Hubby's backup glasses? I'm bookmarking that one.

I just spent $300 on glasses when I was home in the states...(a lot cheaper than Norway...) But I am going to go check out the link...can't hurt with an extra pair! Thanks for sharing!

I've now bought 6 (yes, SIX) pairs of glasses from optical4less.com and they are great. One pair is just a teensy bit too small, but at about $30 each, that's 5 perfect pairs for $180.

(Yeah, 6 pairs of glasses is excessive, but I only own 5 pairs of shoes. So we all have our weaknesses.)

I like that particular site because you can upload a photo of yourself and their software lets you "try on" the glasses on your own face. It's cool and has convinced me NOT to buy several styles that weren't suited for my face shape.

If you want to see my goofy photos of some of the glasses:
