For Hula & Tater Mama....
This weekend after running errands, what should I find on my little cherry tomato plants?

It has been unseasonably cool this summer, so my little cherry tomatoes have been on the vine, but yet to ripen to red or yellow. But this weekend....they started to ripen.

YEAH!!!

So, girls...these are for you. I don't know two people who love home grown, summer tomatoes like I do. If I lived close by, I'd share my small, little bounty. For those who are close by? As soon as these little buggers ripen, they'll be coming out of my ears...so be prepared.

Go by and check out their blogs: Hula can be found here, Tater Mama can be found here.

You'll love them as much as southern sweet tea and red velvet cake. Ummmmm......

Updated to add: As you may remember, I was thrilled beyond belief that my wedding photographer was going to be MckMama from the blog My Charming Kids. Her youngest, Stellan, is back in the hospital and is in serious condition. You can follow her updates on her blog. If you have a prayer in you--please say it for this family. If you're not a prayer type--please keep them in your thoughts. While I'm not a parent I cannot imagine what they are having to go through right now.

I'm growing Topsy Turvy Tomatoes this summer. They sure are different...and bearing fruit, too! SITS sent me by...and I'm having a giveaway where EVERYBODY wins, so please come on down!

Homegrown tomatoes-the fruit of the gods. Thank you, dear. Ours are just ripening. They are a little slow this year, but FINALLY! they're coming in. (Pics coming soon.) I bought ten pounds of bacon this weekend in anticipation.

Dinner last night? sliced tomatoes, cooked down green beans, pickled cucumbers and onions and fresh corn on the cob. Mmmmmm.

Lunch today? Same thing.

If you lived closer, I'd invite you to dinner.

I had a cherry tomato plant one year - I literally would sit with a salt shaker & eat TONS of these little boogers one after another... I got sick... literally... but I'd do it again - so yummy!

Do you feel as though you are going through a mass quantity of people getting sick these days. My prayer list is continuously growing...and I wish it was not. Sigh.

Love your tomatos!!! How cool... Short but funny story of my one tomato growing experience. I bought a flat of flowers last year and put them in a pot on my patio. My sister-inlaw came over one night and noticed the weed I was about to pull out was actually a tomato plant stuck in the flat of annuals. So in the middle of my beautiful flowers was a lonely little tomato plant with ONE tomato. I took a picture of it. Then I ate it for dinner...it was grand! Enjoy...from the frozen summer tundra of Michigan...brrrrr

HA! HA! I got to taste two of these little babies and let me tell you there is nothing like the taste of a home grown tomato! Kelley - I ADORE you for sharing with me!!!!! You are my hero today and in the coming days when I will eat these out of your ears!

Please sir, may I have some, too? I love homegrown tomatoes. We try and try to grow them but they just don't do very well for some reason. Either the soil is bad, the weather is too hot, or the RATS eat them.

However, we did plant a tomato plant in a pot on our balcony and it is doing very well. It is MONSTROUS--taller than I am, and has lots of tomatoes on it.

Many thanks for the shout-out! And congratulations on the tomatoes! I am sure they were divine! We met my mother this afternoon for another corn/eggplant/tomato fix. I am giddy. Our house will smell like bacon until Thanksgiving due to all the BLTs we're consuming, but it IS the perfume of the south...
